BMW telematic control unit (i bus) fault codes

The 45 fault codes the telematic control unit (i bus) can store, and what each one means. Some codes mean different things in different versions of the module; tap a code to see which applies to your car.

  • 0001 BIT: Wire, compensator, short circuit to ground (and 2 other meanings)

  • 0032 ULF: Button, replacing / lifting, jammed
  • 0068 TCU: GPS antenna, short circuit
  • 0069 TCU: GPS antenna, open circuit
  • 006A TCU: Control-unit-internal fault: GPS module
  • 006B Communication with GPS module disturbed (and 1 other meaning)
  • 006C TCU: Control-unit-internal fault: NAD
  • 006D TCU: Emergency call button, open circuit
  • 006E TCU: Emergency SOS call LED, open circuit
  • 0070 TCU: Emergency SOS call button, short circuit to positive
  • 0073 TCU: Control-unit-internal fault: memory
  • 0074 TCU: Emergency SOS call button: button stuck or short circuit to ground
  • 0079 TCU: Control-unit-internal fault: Bluetooth module
  • 007A TCU: Transport mode active
  • 007E Error with backup battery
  • 007F TCU: Breakdown button, short circuit to positive
  • 0080 TCU: Breakdown button, open circuit
  • 0081 TCU: Breakdown button: button stuck or short circuit to ground
  • 0090 Backup Antenna Disconnected
  • 0091 TCU: GSM antenna fault (and 1 other meaning)
  • 0097 TCU: Bluetooth button jammed
  • 0098 TCU: Microphone, open circuit (and 1 other meaning)
  • 00A0 Prefit SIM not present (and 2 other meanings)
