BMW hybrid parking lock fault codes

The 52 fault codes the hybrid parking lock can store, and what each one means. Some codes mean different things in different versions of the module; tap a code to see which applies to your car.

  • 440000 DSM: Line fault. Term. 30 undervoltage
  • 440001 DSM: Line fault. Term. 30 overvoltage
  • 440002 DSM: Line fault. AUX supply short circuit to positive or permanent energization by HCP
  • 440010 DSM: Internal fault. Runtime fault
  • 440011 DSM: Internal fault. Test routine faulty
  • 440012 DSM: Internal fault. Minor EEPROM fault
  • 440013 DSM: Internal fault. Unexpected processor instruction
  • 440014 DSM: Internal fault. RAM check
  • 440015 DSM: Internal fault. ROM check
  • 440016 DSM: Internal fault. Frequency or pulse-width modulation faulty
  • 440017 DSM: Internal fault. Position sensor faulty
  • 440018 DSM: Internal fault. Component H-bridge main motor faulty
  • 440019 DSM: Internal fault. Serious EEPROM fault
  • 440020 DSM: Internal fault. No calibration values
  • 440021 DSM: Internal fault. AUX motor sensor
  • 440022 DSM: Internal fault. Component H-bridge auxiliary motor faulty
  • 440030 DSM: Setpoint position cannot be reached. Fault, motor function or parking lock
  • 440031 DSM: Setpoint position cannot be reached. Fault, emergency motor or return spring
  • 440032 DSM: Setpoint position cannot be reached. Fault, AUX motor resetting
  • 440033 DSM: Setpoint position cannot be reached. Fallback level deactivated. Fault-case counter greater than 100
  • 440034 DSM: Setpoint position cannot be reached. Calibration/teach-in routine defectively carried out
  • 440040 DSM: Event fault. Substitute system triggered
  • 440041 DSM: Event fault. Programming conditions not satisfied
  • 440042 DSM: Event fault. Independent P selection as a result of a lack of HCP information
  • 440043 DSM: Event fault. DSM closed-circuit current fault
  • 440044 DSM: Event fault. EWS active without permission
  • 440045 DSM: Event fault. Calibration lost or teach-in routine not carried out
  • 440046 DSM: Event fault. Undervoltage during adjustment of parking lock
  • 440047 DSM: Event fault. Undervoltage during tensioning of return spring
