BMW headphones interface fault codes

The 7 fault codes the headphones interface can store, and what each one means. Some codes mean different things in different versions of the module; tap a code to see which applies to your car.

  • A1C8 KHI: Control-module fault (DSP defective)
  • A1C9 KHI: Control-module fault (output stages IC defective)
  • D78D Waking device failed 3 times to wake the network. (Error_WakeUp_Failed).
  • D78E Although Shutdown (Execute) was sent, the light did not go out. (Error_Light_Not_OFF).
  • D790 Ring break diagnosis was performed (Error_Ring_Diagnose).
  • D791 Long and/or frequent unlocks (Error_Unlock_Long).
  • D792 KHI: Deactivation, overtemperature
